Any
change, even when it is anticipated and
planned for, is a stressful time. Most
people experience contrasting emotions
(eg, hope and excitement mixed with
sadness and loneliness) which can be
confusing. Sometimes there are physical
symptoms associated with the stress (eg,
headache, chest pain, memory problems)
that add to one's anxiety. Add to this
feelings of disappointment and remorse if
things don't work out exactly as
planned.
Be
reassured...
When responses to a
move are confusing, counseling will
help put things back into
perspective. Often, talking things
through, without the expectation
(your own or others') of "having to
cope", can be a useful
exercise.
