Matters of sex and
creating babies are usually very
personal. Being on a program to have a
baby is difficult physically and
emotionally. There are appointments,
tests, injections, and the need for
things to be done at often very
inconvenient times. In addition, the
feelings of
injustice, failure, embarrassment
and intrusion are equally difficult to
deal with.
Counseling can
assist with the release of negative emotions
and resentments that can build up throughout
the months of assisted reproduction. Couples
often feel guilty at having such emotions as
this is meant to be a time of hope, joy and
connectedness.
Counseling can
also provide the opportunity for couples to
decide whether or not to continue with the
program.
